Catch the Water Damage Early
under Home RepairsIt doesn’t seem to matter whether you plug up the gap or you tighten whatever pipe that needs to be tightened, if a water leak is going to spoil the party then its damn well going to get in somehow. At least that’s the way it seems. I don’t like having to repair the walls but when you’re faced with a dirty brown stain running down a significant part of the wall then there’s nothing for it but to fix the drywall water damage.
Fixing the leak is only a preliminary step to the hard work that’s to follow. You’re going to get a look at the inside cavity of the wall so if you need anything else behind the wall, take the opportunity to get it done when the drywall is down. At least, that should be the plan…it doesn’t always work out that way.
Cutting, cleaning, drying and removing insulation if required are all vital parts of doing the drywall repair job. It isn’t a particularly onerous task it’s just one that has to be done as soon as possible. Failure to catch it in its early stages only means that the problem will have to be addressed later and by that stage the chances are it’s going to be a much bigger job.
